Crickets

Most singing insects are a symbol of Autumn since they die in the winter. Crickets, singing ones, have been associated with loneliness, sadness, pity for the fate of mankind and often found in Chinese poems.

The earliest Chinese poems and songs relating to insects, mainly the singing insect, or cricket, dates back to 1100-600 B.C.

Traditionally, to the Chinese, crickets represent interesting life cycles and since they can lay hundreds of eggs the Chinese considered the most important ingredient to success in life is to have as many children as possible.
